This weekend marked the kickoff of the Annual Down Town Cedar Rapids Farmers Market! We are big Market go'ers and Dylan has been asking about Market ever since it started getting warm outside....so for a couple of months now! Saturday morning after soccer Brad had to check on his bridge so the kids and I headed down to the Market! It was a beautiful morning, a little cloudy but the temperature was cool and perfect for market go'ers. We arrived a little later than usual, for us anyway and it was PACKED! The news said some 18,000 people turned out! It is SO much fun to see all of the people coming out to support local vendors. The ambiance was incredible and we were excited to look for a few of our favorites vendors and to also add a few new favorites to our list.
Dylan has 3 requests for each Market..... Kettle corn, balloon and Salsa. And yesterday we made sure he got all 3!! We look forward to hopefully attending every market and seeking out a few new vendors to add to our 'favorite' list as well!
We returned home just about the time Daddy did, ate lunch and started on a few projects! First Brad needed to do some organization of his truck, so Danielle and I relaxed while the boys took to their task! Dylan and Skylar were a big help to Brad, not leaving his side for one minute.
Since we moved into our home, so 7 years ago now, Brad has really wanted to build a fire pit. Well we tossed it around and about 5 years ago built one at our lot, thinking it would be the perfect evening getaway spot to relax. Well since we have only used that 5-6 times and our lot is currently for sale, we really thought it was time to build a nice one at home! So we did just that and we foresee many hours of fun outside making smores, telling campfire stories, enjoying a few ice cold beverages and just relaxing around a fire pit of our own!
Just as Special Agent Oso does, Dylan was counting the steps for his Daddy....
After tossing around a few potential location ideas, the transformation begins...
Daddy's helper took a few breaks to swing, relax and patiently wait!
Hooray a fire of our own!
Smores, YUM!
Glow sticks in the summer are SO much fun! Our supply is stocked up!
Just a beautiful evening by the fire at Casa de Holub!
We had a fantastic evening making smores, singing songs, relaxing and enjoying a beautiful night! We put the kids to bed and had a few more hours, just the two of us....and Skylar, of relaxing beneath the full moon! Thank you Brad for creating a new somewhat of a 'Zen' spot for our family!!!
This past week was somewhat of a crazy one! Month end for me, Brad working like crazy to meet a deadline, the first week of Summer break for Dylan and preparing for meetings and appts with Danielle! I was very much looking forward to a half day on Friday and that didn't happen, so this weekend we all felt like we were playing catch-up from last week and today we were taking advantage of plans put on hold and having an entire day to do nothing but....relax! The morning started out on the swings at 8am, Dylan begging for 'another fire pleeaaasseee Daddy', ice cream cones before dinner and some sunshine on the deck!
Dylan was flat out worn out! His self done nap started in his room, then moved to the living room, talking in his sleep about his favorite summer treat, ice cream cones! Too funny!
This little peanut has been on the MOVE! She fully makes herself get to where she wants to go and today she came right over to Mommy's hand. I almost shed a tear! She acted like she was moving my way, I held out my hand and about 5 minutes later she was right by the couch where I could grab her and snuggle her to pieces! Such a sweetie!
These little red toy buckets are a favorite of hers. She loves maneuvering herself over to them and pulling them off of the table. Every single time she makes her way over, pulls them off, usually conks herself on the head and then flings them back and forth after dumping out all of the toys!
Yep, back at it again! If we put them on the floor that just leads to her frustration, part of her routine and fun is pulling them off. So we oblige and warn her that it wont feel good when she conks herself on the melon....she just throws a smile our way and continues on!
We are preparing for yet another busy week ahead! We enjoyed a weekend of relaxation and fun with the kids! Summer break this week = lots of fun for Dylan with a water day and a trip to the Splash pad!! Oh to be 5 again!!! Cheers to summer lovin', continuing and the making of new traditions!!~
