We are Family!

We have had several memorable family moments the past few weeks. Sadly, this past week my brother went back to college in PA and his summer stay with us came to an end. It is always so hard for me, to see him travel back to school....not sure why that is, but I just miss him dearly, and so do the kids. Dylan finally stopped asking for him every day about 3 days after he left. Dylan doesn't quite understand when I tell him that Uncle Chase went back to school, I think mostly because he hasn't seen Chases school to relate to in his mind. But we had so much fun with Chase this summer and really enjoyed having him around! Now he is back in Pittsburgh starting his Junior year of College...best of luck Chase!

This past weekend brought a very busy weekend with lots of family as Brad's brother Nick and his fiance Sarah Brecht got married! Crazy enough, it was this exact weekend 8 years ago that Brad and I got married....it surly doesn't seem like it has been that long! Friday late afternoon/evening we headed up to Central City for the Rehearsal and then dinner. This is a beautiful church just outside Central City that is brand new. Only 4 years old I believe. They started setting things up getting ready for their big day on Saturday and getting the pre-wedding jitters out of the way during the rehearsal.

Cassie and Kenzie watched Dylan for us, we wanted him to have a fun night since we knew that Saturday would be jam packed! So Danielle ventured with us and she looked adorable in her black/white and red dress, matching Daddy!

The rehearsal went great and got a few kinks worked out and the bride and groom were confident they were very much ready for their big day! We headed home for a good nights rest and got up bright and early Saturday morning. Brad took his brothers out for a pre-wedding Breakfast.....important to get some food in the groom before nerves get the best of him right?!!

Brad headed up at about 9:30 as he was in the wedding party. This left some R&R time for the kids and I before headed up. We read books, laid around, had some lunch and then got ready for the wedding. Dylan was so cute dressed in his little silver and black tie, and Danielle looked like a little princess in her white dress....cute little munchkins!

Waiting for his Bride!

The 3 brothers, Nick, Tony & Brad

Sarah's cousin was the Flower girl and her nephew the Ring Bearer. Cute little ones!

Trying to get thru the vows with a few tears...

We sat right up front and it was very hard for Dylan to be sitting right behind Daddy but not understanding why he couldn't sit 'with' him. He was a good boy but every single time that there was a pause during the wedding and it got quiet he would say really loud, 'are we done now'! Little pistol....I would cover his mouth and say, 'not yet'!

The wedding went without a hitch, afterwards Dylan was very excited to jump into Daddy's arms!

And Danielle was so excited to see Daddy too.. and to tell him mostly how handsome he looked in his tux ;-)

Both Great Grandma's taking a break after the wedding.

The newly weds! Nick & Sarah! Muah!!

It was a beautiful day....but in beautiful with the sunshine it was also very HOT. And I mean super duper HOT! Unfortunately the reception location was not air conditioned. Thankfully we were semi-prepared in knowing this ahead of time and we made the most of it. But as the wedding party ventured about, for awhile, on their party bus we sat in the car and cooled off. Dylan sure made himself comfy in mom's new car, watching his movies and playing with his toys. Cassie and I sat and chatted while I fed Danielle her dinner....all in preparation for a long night ahead!

Dylan with two of his most favorite cousins, Cassie & Mackenzie!

Thank you SO much girls for keeping him entertained and helping us out!

The wedding party arrived and we sat down for dinner and the speeches. Nick gave a fabulous speech in honor of his Bride!

Dylan had been talking all day long about dancing with Cassie's boyfriend Cody. They even taught Dylan a few dance moves on Friday night. He just could not wait to see Cody!!

Thankfully family friends Ron & Laura were there and thought of our dear daughter. Laura brought a small portable battery operated fan. It literally saved the day, serious. I can't even explain how hot it was in there and Danielle was really fussy. So Laura put the fan on the stroller and Danielle calmed right down. We then changed her into a more light weight dress and she was set to go for the night!

One of the really fun things about this Holub Family, especially at big family functions is that they really like to have a good time. A long time family tradition that was started about 15 years ago when I started dating Brad, was that 'Family Tradition' by Hank Williams Jr. would be played and the whole family would serenade each other. They have done it at several family functions and holidays...they did it at our wedding and it was done at Nick's also. Such a fun moment!!

Brad's Grandma Holub and his Dad being serenaded by us and the whole family, everyone singing 'Family Tradition'!

Several family's were taking advantage of everyone being together and all dressed up, perfect chance for nice family pics! Here is the Dietiker family for theirs. This is Brad's Aunt whom I am very close with and her beautiful kids, Cassie, Kenzie and Zach and her wonderful hubby Dan. Such a cute family! Cassie and Zach were Alter Servers in our wedding 8 years ago and Kenzie was the little flower girl! My oh my....they are all grown up!
Probably the happenings of the evening that melted our hearts the mos,t is when Nick wanted to dance with Danielle. These past few years have been very rough for Brad and I and his family. But things are looking up, we are now in a good place and know one is taking any moment for granted.

Uncle Nick and Danielle! How precious is this :)
He sang to her and she cuddled right in!

And a little while later, Uncle Tony put her right to sleep!!

After a cat nap, Danielle was up for the remainder of the night! Dancing the night away!

And Brad and I had quite a few people watching the kids for us as he took me to the dance floor! Aww!

And Dylan...let me tell you, he was a dancing machine! We have a few people sending us pictures, and I can't wait to see them... but he was on the dance floor ALL night long. It was SO cute! He was such a little stud dancing without a shirt on and the little girls coming over to dance with him and his cousin Harrison. It was adorable! At about 10:00 he crashed hard. Thankfully we had the stroller and he slept the rest of the night, loud music, lots of noise....none of it botherd him one bit! This little guy was out!

Daddy sneaking in a few dances with his daughter!

Brad and his cousin Trent reminising while dancing and Nick & Danielle dancing the night away!

Brad and cousin Travis looking on at Nick & Danielle. Precious!

Singing 'Family Tradition' to Dean one last time at the end of the night.
We had a great time celebrating the marriage of Nick and Sarah. Brad was very happy to be a part of their special day. We wish them a life time of love and happies and babies too ;)
Congrats Nick & Sarah 8-21-10!

Last weekend we spent the weekend at Adventureland in Des Moines with my Aunt and Cousin & her family! This is our Annual trip, one that we very much look forward to every year! We headed off last Friday afternoon for Des Moines for a weekend of fun. There was a lot of flooding in the area. This picture is of the flood waters along interstate 80 just before Des Moines. Although this looks like a river or lake it isn't, it's a result of flash flooding. There are corn stalks beneth this water completly covered. So sad for the people in this area.
Friday night we swam in the pool and ordered pizza and had a big slumber party! Dylan was SO excited to spend the weekend with his cousins Collin & Morgan. He was just pumped to swim and play and have them playing in their pj's just before bed. He loves his cousins so much!
Saturday morning we got up, had breakfast and arrived at the park right when they opened at 10am! The first stop was one of Brad's favorite rides...the Falling Star! You can see Brad and Collin waving to us from way up high.

Danielle was excited too. She actually liked riding in the stroller as long as we kept moving and she was content soaking up the sunshine. The temps in the morning were cool, low humidity, perfect for Adventureland. Just after noon the sun came out and it got really hot, that was the perfect time for us to head to the new water park...Adventure Bay!
Dylan did a few more rides before our water fun. There is just so much for kids of all ages at Adventureland. It is such a fun place!
Riding on the Fire Engine!
My Cousin Kim and her family!Daddy & Collin were troopers and rode the rides with Dylan. Can't forget about the little semi's!And then it was time for the BIG ride. The thrill seeking 'Space Shot'!
Brad, Collin, Kim & Kris holding on for dear life!
We arrived at the water park, which is brand new and it is just on the back side of the park. We got there just after we had lunch and in perfect time! The place was busy but we managed to get a spot with some chairs and a place to park the stroller and our stuff. We got changed and hit the water. It was just what we all needed to cool off for a bit!
Aunt Ellie and Dylan with Ellie's Grand kids Collin & Morgan!
Adventure Bay was awesome. They had lots of waterslides, big slides, kids slides, a splash area for the kids, a big lazy river and even a swim up bar! Which the adults found right away ;)Great Aunt Ellie & Danielle!
And about 2 hours after we were settled in, the place got packed!
Little kids play area.

After the water park we headed out for more rides and dinner! After dinner a stop at the Funnel Cake Factory was a must. Daddy & Dylan waited in line for a taste of heaven!
Dylan loves the little lady bug ride.
Dylan & cousin Collin! They are such great buddies!
Dylan riding the Air Ballons with Daddy.
Danielle having a great time. She is such a wonderful little traveler.

We closed the park down! At about 9:30 we started heading back towards the front. We stopped for some ice cream...yum! And a quick cool off in the Air Conditioning. Dylan got this super fun light toy, he was set and not letting that go far from his reach.
Danielle was sleepy and so was Daddy! It is hard working being at the amusement park for 12 hours on a hot summer day. But it was SO worth it, we had a blast and are already counting down the days until our trip next year!

Thank you Ellie and Kim, Kris, Collin & Morgan for a super fun weekend away! We had a lot of laughs as always! Dylan did a great job at embarrasing mommy on one occasion...but you'll have to check his blog for that story ;)

We have had some great times with family lately. Both Brad's side of the family as well as my side of the family. Really makes us realize how truly important these family times are. No matter what bitter moments we may have had in the past, we realize how important each and every minute of the day is with our family, the ones we love and share our roots with. Thank you lord for blessing us and for protecting us on these fun advantures with the ones we love the most!~
