Long before Halloween came, the search began for the perfect costumes for the kids! We searched here, there and everywhere....Dylan browsed magazines and we looked online and finally we found the perfect costume characters for the kids!
Dylan got to dress up at preschool this year. This was a very big deal because it is his first year of school and the first of many years of dressing up at school! The super fun thing that his school did this year was a Halloween parade! I had the day off work spent with a very good friend so I was able to sneak out a little early and head to the Halloween parade!
They had this big black cat blown up in the gym and all of the kids classes paraded into the gym and
thru the big cat! It was awesome. They had really spooky Halloween music playing and the kids were SO excited to show off their costumes!
The big kids came first parading
thru one by one. All of the costumes were so great, and everything you can think of the kids dressed up as, anything from a candy bar to a puppet with strings and all, the kids looked fantastic! I was so happy to be there and such a proud parent having chose this school for our child! Of course tears filled my eyes, it seems that all of these moments that are firsts for us are so moving to me. I just can't explain it!!!
Here come the preschoolers! Every single teacher was dressed up and so was the principal, this school was full of Halloween spirit!
Dylan wore his last years
dinosaur costume to school for this. It was only a 1 piece costume and very easy to
maneuver in, much easier than this years Halloween costume. And he was very content wearing it and practiced his '
rrrooooar' several times that morning so he could scare all of his friends! He liked to call himself 'T-Rex'! HA! It was so cute!
And after the parade I was so excited to scoop him up for a weekend full of Halloween fun! He posed quick with his most favorite childcare teacher Miss Amber. She is SO wonderful for Dylan and tells him every night when I pick him up how he makes her heart so happy! It is so cute and Dylan loves her so much! She was a purple troll!
We came home and got the kids costumes all prepared for a fun night trick or treating!
We also carved Dylan's first pumpkin! This is the very first year that he was 110% into Halloween. He was so much fun! He chose his pumpkin he wanted to carve and then decided on a funny face for the pumpkin transformation!
He was not afraid for one minute to get his hands dirty. I scraped the sides for him and he stuck his hands right in and pulled out the goop.
Eeewwww, slimy, he kept saying!
And finally the perfect pumpkin face was carved!!
Halloween afternoon Dylan just couldn't wait to put on his costume. He ran around outside all afternoon with his buckle and cowboy hat on! He was a full on cowboy for the day! Ye-Haw!
And finally dusk came and it was time to get dressed. He was just thrilled to be dressed in his costume and he practiced all afternoon saying, 'trick or treat'!
And the costumes are revealed!!! Our little Cowboy and Cowgirl of Halloween 2010!
We bundled up the kids and snuggled Danielle in the stroller and as soon as the porch lights came on we were off!
Our neighborhood gets so into Halloween and that makes it so much for the parents and kids both! Many houses were all decked out with lights and some had music playing!
Some even transformed their garage into a make shift haunted house! This one had smoke and everything. It was perfect! The had Hot chocolate and Hot Apple cider for parents and a couple even offered 'adult' beverages! So much fun!
Quite a few people had
fire pits set up in their front yard and driveway. It was perfect to be able to stop every couple houses and warm up your hands and feet! We stopped down at Uncle Nicks and he filled the kids bags full with Halloween treats and also some treats that are a parents worse nightmare....fun dips and pixie sticks!!! Oh my lord, we laughed and laughed!
We got around the circle and headed inside to quick turn on our light for the trick or
treaters still out making their rounds. We always knew our neighborhood had a TON of kids for Halloween, we always have a huge turnout. We run out of candy every single year, and we buy a ton of it. Well our neighbor counted the number of kids, their tally was 177 trick or
treaters! OH MY goodness, that explains it I guess! Dylan was so into Halloween this year, it was a lot of fun. Danielle didn't complain one bit, she loved being along for the ride, not to mention the goodies she got!!
This weekend our Halloween celebration continued with a kids costume party! Saturday we got our goodies ready to go....homemade cracker spiders! These are so easy to make, yummy to eat and I have to say they look pretty cute too! Dylan was convinced they were 'icky silly spiders', but after he tasted one he realized they were all in good fun!
We bundled the kids in their costumes and headed off for the
LeConte Halloween party at Emily's family farm in New Vienna! Dylan was SO excited not only to see all of the kids but also to get to wear his fun costume again!
We arrived and right away Dylan made himself at home with the fun toys around! They had an outstanding turnout and everywhere you turned there were adorable kiddo's dressed up in their costumes! We started the night out with a '
hay'rack ride! But this was a first class hay rack ride with a covered wagon and all! It was perfect, just a little breeze but we were all bundled so we stayed nice and warm! Little Drew was all ready to ride up on the tractor with his daddy and to take us for a ride.
We saw the cows and Dylan was giving us his best moo! They even had a
miniature horse up in the other barn. We had such a fun visit to the Arlen farm!
Back in the barn the kids gave each other rides in their own mini wagon. Dylan loved playing all night long, running here and there and everywhere.
They had little stations set up with different activities for the kids. Dylan picked a coloring book and colored a few pictures! They gave the kids mini
tattoos and had a fun craft table set up too.
The kids played the
paddle board game and won some great prizes! It was so fun seeing all of the little ones dressed in character. One of my favorites was the box of popcorn you can see in the left of this picture. How creative!
This barn was one of many on the farm, but they have been doing some major renovations to the inside! It was the perfect place for a party. I am still amazed by this wagon that was hung up in the raftors....very neat.

The kids had a fantastic time and so did Mom and Dad too! The food was fantastic and it was a good time had by all. They put so much work into this party and we were very happy to be able to see the LeConte family again and the kids were excited to see each other too! Thank you for having us up for the kids costume party!
This morning we enjoyed our extra hour of sleep! Everyone slept in, except for Miss Danielle who had other plans. But after a morning bottle she fell back asleep. Everyone woke nice and rested and we just enjoyed the morning together. Dylan was very excited to look thru the ad's this morning as he is compiling quite the list for Santa! I just love how he puts on his rubbers and plops himself in the chair for the morning browsing the ads!
This afternoon we made our way outside to enjoy this beautiful warm weather! Upper 60 degree temps for the beginning of November was just amazing! Daddy & Dylan headed over to help the neighbor take down a tree.
Then it was back over for some boy play time. Dylan hauled out his big dump truck from the garage and gave it a big roll down the yard. He was browsing for every bit of dirt he could find to put in his truck.
Skylar was very excited to join in the outdoor fun. She got her nose in the middle of Dylan and Daddy every single time she could!
Daddy thought it was funny to show Dylan a little bit about climbing. Really I think he wanted to test out his building skills and see how sturdy the play house actually was. Well it must have been pretty sturdy to hold him up for a few minutes, but Dylan was very concerned about Daddy way up there, 'Daddy you need to come down', he kept saying.
This is pretty funny, Skylar sure knows where the cutoff is for her invisible fence, she sat and patiently waited for Dylan to cross over closer for her to join in the fun. But when he was out of reach, she sat and sat and sat.
Thank you Skylar for being such a good girl. We love you so much, you are the perfect puppy for our family. Dylan had a lot of fun playing with you today!
We really enjoyed the outdoors today. Soaking up every ounce of sunshine and warm air that we can as it will quickly turn cold. The extra hour of rest and family time was really nice today. And Halloween 2010 was a big hit also, we can't wait for trick or treating next year!~
