Life, Love, Laughter: St. Patty's Fun!

What a beautiful weekend we had! It was exactly what we needed! The weather first of all seriously could NOT have been better! I mean 82 degrees in the middle of March, AH, LOVE it!!! I knew we were not the only ones having Spring fever when I made a trip to Target on Friday and while browsing the pool section, one type of pool had already sold out! Yep, feeling like early summer, I'll admit I even had that same thought of busting out the pool as well!
With this holiday weekend here, apparently the leprechauns had been watching this Holub home and had a few shenanigans up their sleeve! We awoke on Saturday morning and Dylan came running into our room and informed us that indeed, the leprechauns made quite the MESS!

Dylan did not know what to do! As soon as he found the mess in the kitchen and told us, he then went into the potty and came running again, we could hear the trample of his feet pounding on the floor as we looked at each other and laughed! 'Mom, Dad, you HAVE to get up NOW and see what this leprechaun did, he peed green in my toilet!!!'
Thankfully, the leprechaun had a little bit of heart and did some sucking up for the mess he made, he left little buckets of gold and jewels for the kids and their friends too! Maybe these leprechauns aren't so bad after all?!

Saturday afternoon and evening our festive activities continued with a grill out with our great friends the Hahn's and Eddins family's! The Mom's had a fun craft up our sleeves and even a Suzie q homemaker moment in mind too with cooking up some baked pickles that were without a doubt the best EVER and way better than fried ones! I even made up some homemade ranch dressing and it was a HIT! It will be hard to dip into the store bought from now on that's for sure! Sadly I didn't get a picture of the pickles but I did make our own little rainbow appetizer with another pot of gold and some yummy dirt pie desserts! YUM!

The kiddo's, as always, had a ton of fun playing and spending time together and us Mom's and the Dad's did too! It was very fun being festive for the day!!!

Our craft for the evening was very Spring and St. Patty's related, homemade fireflies for the kids that lit up at night! SO cute and we were very anxious to test them out! Of course the afternoon and evening goes by so fast but we had to do this long awaited craft and it did not disappoint! The kids had a blast!!!

Of course with the awaited anticipation the kiddo's....and I think secretly the Mom's too...couldn't wait to get these out in the dark to see them glow!!! The daddy's had been on the deck the majority of the night enjoying the beautiful evening with some ice cold beverages, it was time to show our masterpieces and light up the night sky!

This morning we all slept in and it felt SO good! The kids slept until 9 and I am not quite sure that, that has ever happened before! The sun came out just before noon and we were ready for some more outdoor fun. Dylan has had so much fun with Skylar lately and that fun continued today! They played fetch for what seemed like an hour, Skylar would drop her ball or frisbee right at his feet today and bark or nudge his hand for him to play, it was too cute! She also would bark at her water dish, I must have filled it 10 times for her with water and ice, she was working up a sweat!

The kids each took short naps and I enjoyed the quiet time out on the deck myself on my lounge chair soaking up some sun! It felt SO good! And while Daddy caught up on some basketball my furry partner in crime stayed right by my side :)

This afternoon for the first time Dylan for a brief moment insisted on playing outside on his own. We had not encouraged this before but this year he has persisted on showing us how 'big' he is! This makes me so nervous and I am sure he does feel so big and I appreciate that so much but he at times still seems so little to me. So we let him have a short time of independence, so he thought, and he ventured outside into the back yard by himself with his puppy in tow. He had to have Skylar right by his side. I could have shed a little tear and of course there was no way I was going to let him be fully unattended, after all he is only 5! So I propped myself up on the counter and watched out the kitchen window. He was quietly swinging and then searching for his rings and climbing the rock wall all while yelling for Skylar should she roam the yard. You could tell he had that courage about him like he was fully content playing in whatever way his little mind led him to. It was pretty sweet. After about 15 minutes he came running back up the yard, up the deck stairs and to the screen door yelling, 'Mom, mom will you come out to the deck and play with me!' Ahhh, I thought he'd never ask, 'why yes Dylan, of course I will.' And so we went about our day, the two of us and eventually 4 of us plus our furry friend, and it felt so good!

This evening Dylan conked out at 5:30 without any supper or anything. Poor little dude was exhausted after a full, very fun weekend! We had the pleasure of seeing this beauty for a few more hours tonight!
